Born Corey Brent Penn, Sr. is best known as the vocal half of the hip-hop duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth. He released his debut solo album, American Me, in 2007. mixtapes by DJ J Period called Man On Fire, DJ SHAKIM THE OUTSIDER featured guest vocals to songs by AZ (Magic Hour), Nujabes (Sky is Falling) and Dipset affiliate J. R. Writer (the remix of Mesmerize) or Supafuh (Act of Faith)to name a few. He most recently participated in a remake of he and Pete Rock's Straighten It Out now titled Our Generation the song was recreated by Grammy Winners John Legend and The Roots in 2011. Cl smooth is currently working on multiple projects, he will be touring with Pete Rock as well as working on his second solo lp titled The Emancipation Of Corey Penn .
