I'm a huge fan of Goapele. I have all of her albums, I've seen her a few times performing so I truly appreciate her talent overall. My issue with this track is that it sounds MAD dated. It seriously sounds like the mid 2000's. It's just not what I'm used to from her. "Powerful" is a bit of a different story. There's elements of this track that sound more current (& the break is TOTALLY her) but the chorus feels forced. Her sound is HER SOUND... this doesn't sound like her. Maybe this is just backlash when an artist you care for does something different but Goapele isn't Rhianna. Whatever that chorus is sounds like someone was trying to make her Rhi.
